Megan Vander Meer

American professional volleyball player who has built one of the longest overseas careers of any former Ferris State volleyball athlete. Known for her versatility and longevity, Vander Meer has competed professionally across Europe for nearly a decade, playing in countries including the Czech Republic, France, Albania, Finland, Germany, and Greece.

Early life

Vander Meer grew up in Hudsonville, Michigan, where she played club volleyball with Carpe Diem Volleyball for nearly a decade. During her youth career, she developed experience at multiple positions, including middle hitter, outside hitter, right-side hitter, and setter, establishing the versatility that would later define her professional career.

College career — Ferris State Bulldogs (2012–2015)

Vander Meer played four seasons at Ferris State University and was part of one of the most successful eras in program history. Throughout her collegiate career, she developed into a reliable attacker and all-around contributor while helping the Bulldogs compete nationally in NCAA Division II volleyball. Her ability to play multiple positions made her a valuable asset for Ferris State and laid the foundation for her future overseas opportunities.

Playing career

Following college, Vander Meer began her professional career in the Czech Republic, spending two seasons with PVK Přerov. The experience marked her transition from collegiate volleyball to the European professional game.

For the 2019–20 season, Vander Meer moved to France with Stella Calais Volley-Ball, continuing to expand her professional résumé while competing in another European league.

In 2021–22, she joined SK Tirana in Albania, gaining experience in Albanian volleyball and further extending her international career.

Vander Meer played the 2022–23 season with Arctic Volley in Finland, continuing a trend of American athletes finding professional opportunities in Nordic volleyball leagues.

For the 2023–24 campaign, she competed in Greece with Foinikas Alexandroupolis, adding another country to her professional journey.

The 2024–25 season saw Vander Meer move to Germany, where she played for SCU Emlichheim.

In 2025, Vander Meer returned to Greece, signing with AOF Porfyras and continuing her lengthy overseas career.
